As the son of Nelson Alila Onyango, a revered figure in the Kenyan Football Federation (KFF), Tom Alila's connection to football governance runs deep. His journey reached a significant milestone when he served as the National Executive Committee (NEC) member for the Nyanza region under Sam Nyamweya's leadership from 2013.

During his tenure, Tom successfully renovated Moi Stadium in Kisumu through a Sh52 million collaboration with FIFA, demonstrating his ability to forge crucial partnerships for the betterment of the sport.
